The hotel overlooks the Grand Canal, just steps from Piazza San Marco; you are literally just a few feet from the most famous site in Venice. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Basilica della Salute, Punta della Dogana, the Giudecca Island and the Island of San Giorgio.
When I first stayed here, I have to admit that I loved the view from my room. With so many boats and gondolas sailing past my window, and watching the sunlight glisten off the surface of the water, it felt like being on a cruise ship. In fact, when I woke up in the morning, I’d have to run down to the lobby to remind myself that I was, in fact, not on a cruise or houseboat! But that is all part of the surreal magic that is Venice!
While this hotel is not on the cheap side one bit, just coming here is worth it by itself. Also, enjoy a meal on the veranda of the hotel. I remember sipping coffee and nibbling on fresh, baked bread on a late morning the first time I stayed here. That moment of hot coffee in one hand, and hearing the gentle splashing of water against the side of the hotel made for such an unforgettable experience! The name of the hotel may say “Monaco”, but the feel is all “Venice!”
