At the corner of Ohio and LaSalle Street in downtown Chicago, you’ll find the Ohio House Motel. But adjacent to this old-fashioned motel in the city is one heckuva chicken joint where you can fill up on some of the best southern-style chicken and biscuits. The chicken is served on flaky, buttery biscuits that are amazing even by themselves. But pair this biscuit with a big piece of fried chicken and you’ll know why this place is cock-a-doodle-good!
The chicken is thick and fried to a crispy, crunchy piece of perfection. You get your choice of sauces and you can get in made with spices (Nashville style) or original (pickle brine). I highly recommend a side of their red coleslaw which gets its hue from beetroot and their crinkle-cut fries which are so good! They are crisp and have an almost creamy finish on the inside. Be sure to come hungry! Pricewise, it is not inexpensive, but it is not cheap. Still, it is worth every dollar and cent.
If you are craving chicken and biscuits, but you are a long way from the south, but you just happen to be in the Loop, strut on into Leghorn’s for some, I say, for some, I say, for some of the best bird in the Windy City!
